Dimplex Revillusion Weathered Concrete 42 Electric Insert

A fire you can see clear through and still swear is real. Quick Facts • Heating Capacity: 0–450 sq ft • Viewing Area: 42″ wide fire • Fuel: Electric. • Controls: Remote with adjustable flame color and intensity, plus built-in touch controls. • Fan: Included Who It’s For Most electric fireplaces give themselves away in the first ten seconds—a flat flame looping on a screen. Once you’ve spotted it, you can’t unsee it. You need an electric fire that reads as fire from every seat in the room. If you want the ease of electric without settling for a screensaver, the Revillusion 42 in Weathered Concrete is the one. A standard flat-panel unit will warm the room just fine; this is the one people look twice at . What Makes It Special The logs are the trick—except they aren’t a trick. Each Realogs set is handcrafted from real wood , with lights inside that pulse like a bed of burning coals. The flames rise behind a partially frosted acrylic panel, so they appear to come from within the logs , and you can see clear through the fire to the Weathered Concrete backer behind it— the full depth a masonry firebox has . No reflections, no looping video. The rest is control. The remote adjusts the color and intensity of the light, so the fire matches the evening instead of fighting it. Run the flames alone on a June night for pennies, or switch on the heater and warm up to 1,000 square feet —a living room and the kitchen beyond it—when it’s cold. Possible Downsides • The backer is fixed at Weathered Concrete on this model; for a different look, choose the Herringbone, Neutral Brick, or Black version instead. • Full heat output requires a dedicated 240-volt connection ; on a standard household outlet it delivers roughly half its maximum heat. If you want an electric fire that holds up to a long look, the Revillusion 42 is the right decision. The room it’s in becomes the room the house lives in. It ships with the tempered front glass and plug kit included, and the same firebox comes in four backer finishes: Weathered Concrete, Herringbone, Neutral Brick, and Black.
