Air Handlers

Air Handlers in Spokane

The air handler is the indoor side of an all-electric heat pump system — the fan, coil, and backup heat that actually move conditioned air through the house. When it's matched and installed right, you never think about it. That's the point.

Installation

Matched Components, No Compromises

Installer greeting a family at their door beside a new outdoor unit

We install Trane air handlers matched to their outdoor units — matched coils, correct airflow, and backup heat strips sized for real Spokane cold snaps. Mismatched components are the quiet killer of heat pump efficiency; we don't mismatch.

  • Free in-home evaluation by a licensed estimator — your system, layout, and airflow
  • A detailed quote within 48 hours: scope of work, equipment options, timeline, rebates, and upfront pricing
  • Permits, scheduling, and crew staging handled — you get a "Who's Coming to My House?" email before install day
  • Drop cloths and floor protection down; your old equipment removed and recycled
  • System startup, testing, and calibration, then a final walkthrough with you

Maintenance

Three Faults, Prevented Yearly

Annual service keeps the blower clean, the coil clear, and the condensate line flowing — the three faults behind most airflow and water-leak calls.

The visit runs their published 20+ point inspection with logged metrics, including backup heat strips — so the first sub-zero night isn't the first test of the electric heat your system falls back on.

What an Air Handler Visit Covers

  • Blower wheel and motor cleaning
  • Coil condition and airflow verification
  • Condensate line cleared and tested
  • Backup heat strip function check
  • Full 20+ point inspection with every metric logged

We don't guess. We measure.

Air Handlers FAQs

Tap any question to read the answer.

What does an air handler do?

It's the indoor unit of a ducted heat pump system: a blower and coil that distribute heating and cooling, plus electric backup heat for extreme cold. It replaces the furnace in an all-electric setup.

Do I need a new air handler with a new heat pump?

Usually yes — matched indoor and outdoor units are how the system hits its rated efficiency and keeps its warranty. We'll tell you honestly if your existing one can stay.

How long do air handlers last?

15–20 years with maintenance, roughly in step with the outdoor unit — which is why they're usually replaced as a pair.

Can you add backup heat for cold snaps?

Yes — electric heat strips inside the air handler carry the house through extreme cold. We size them to your home during the install.
