You need a fireplace that works with the outlet you already have . If you’re finishing a bedroom, a den, or an apartment where a vented unit was never on the table—and you want a fire whose look can change with the room—the Sierra 48 is the one. A gas linear will always be the bigger heater; this one trades that for a fire you can have almost anywhere, this weekend. What Makes It Special Most fireplaces decide where they live before you do. The Sierra 48 installs three ways —built into the wall, mounted on it, or set on its included feet as a tabletop piece—and every one ends the same way: you plug it into a standard household outlet and the fire is on. The fire itself is changeable. Four media beds come in the box —logs, pebbles, and two crystal mixes—and you can rotate through the flame color themes and eight ember bed colors until the fire matches the room, not the other way around. The flames run without the heat, so it earns its wall space in July as much as January. When you do want warmth, the fan-forced ceramic heater covers up to 1,000 square feet on demand—enough to carry the room on its own or take the edge off while the furnace holds the baseline. The glass stays cool to the touch, so children and pets can share the room with it. Possible Downsides • The heat is fan-forced —the fan runs whenever the heater does, and there is no fan-free heating mode. • Alternate log styles are add-ons —the beach driftwood, driftwood, and thin split log sets are optional purchases beyond the included media. • One-year limited warranty on the unit. If you want a wide, changeable fire without a gas line, a chimney, or a remodel, the Sierra 48 is the right decision. The room with the blank wall becomes the one everyone ends up in. The Sierra 48 ships with four interchangeable media beds—logs, pebbles, small crystals, and a large/small crystal mix—and takes optional ember bed media in tumbled glass, river rocks, black rocks, and clear acrylic crystals, plus faux wood log sets in beach driftwood, driftwood, and thin split styles.
