Dimplex BF Series 39 Electric Fireplace (X-BF39STP)

A built-in fire for the wall that has no chimney. Quick Facts • Heating Capacity: 0–500 sq ft approx. 400–500 sq ft—the room it’s in • Fuel: Electric. Who It’s For There’s a room that wants a fire—a basement, a den, a bedroom—and no chimney or gas line anywhere near it, so getting one there would turn a fireplace into a construction project. You need a fire that builds in on house wiring alone . If you’re after warmth and a focal point for one room, not a furnace for the whole floor, the Dimplex BF Series 39 is the one we’d point you to. Wait for a “real” fireplace and the wall stays blank; choose this and the fire goes in without opening up the rest of the house. What Makes It Special Every other fireplace category needs something behind the wall—a flue, a gas line, room for venting. This one needs a framed opening and electricity , and that’s it. One scope note, because it’s a built-in: the job ends with finish work around the face, so budget the wall, not just the box. It also suits the smartest way to run any fireplace: comfort-zone heating . Set the furnace to a low baseline and let the fire hold the room your family actually lives in. Most households spend their evenings in a few hundred square feet, and that’s exactly what this warms. Possible Downsides • Heats one room, not the house —approx. 400–500 sq ft is its honest range; if you need whole-floor heat, gas is the better heater. • Everything it does needs electricity —in a power outage there is no heat and no flame. • The base unit is the firebox alone —trim, glass doors, and the plug kit are all optional add-ons, not included. If you want a built-in fire on a wall with no chimney and no gas line, the BF Series 39 is the right decision. The room with the blank wall becomes the one everyone ends up in. The BF Series 39 takes a four-piece installation trim, bi-fold look glass doors, glass swing doors, or a tamper-proof glass door kit, plus a plug kit for standard outlet installation.
